Inspection, practice Parades in Arms Drill and Close Order Drill
te hold.
Camp was well attended by the Company and the programme
proved interesting and instructive to the troops.
The Corps Field Day at the last week-end was definitely
instructive to the troops as well as to the Officers as it gave
some indication of the troops' capabilities in open warfare as
opposed to our usual static role.
Machine Gun Competition. No.1 Company entered three teams in
this Competition and they wore placed 1st, 3rd and 4th. This was
due to hard work and keenness and the result speaks for itself.
MUSKETRY. The standard is still not high enough, those
improved as compared with last year. The monthly Company shoots at
the Peak were fairly well attended but were curtailed owing to the
Range being condemned as being unsafe.
REVOLVER. No revolver training were carried out. Though Nos.
1 and 2 of guns should be armed with this weapon, there are not
enough in the Corps for them to be issued and we there fore
concentrated on other things.
ORGANIZATION. Platoons are to be re-organized during the
summer with a view to keeping those interest in common together.
BEACH DEFENCE. The idea of our primary duties in the Dofence
Scheme has again been stressed but not "ad nauseam".
The Combined Operations in March showed that the men have
acquired a very fair conception of their duties in this regard. In
passing I wish to mention that the Company turned out only two
short of full strength for this exercise.
The comprehensive essay on Beach Do fence for the Kirkpatrick
Cup is a tribute in particular to Sorgeant E.C. Hudson, M.C.
DISCIPLINE. This has been good throughout the year.
